Changed heads, went with Evans hydraulics, what a difference from the Emperors. Still need to pick up reso heads but I love being able to see the beautiful maple wood grain in the toms. Also moved the kit out from the wall a little more and added a stacker for the 8" splash, moved a few things so they were a little more comfortable to reach.

His set-up is awesome. I don't have as many toms as his does, so I have left the rack toms mounted to the kick drum. I have the snare & high hats mounted to the rack with legless stands, so that helps clear the clutter around the feet. My space is very limited in the garage, but I am sure I will be rearranging the rack set-up many times.

My first real snare drum! A Pearl EX $30 bucks plus $10 for a Gretch stand. The snare is a bit worn, I mean well-loved but the stand is like new! I am very thankful to actually have a Real Drum now! Boy I tell ya it is SO different than playing on a Pillow or my remo practice pad. And LOUDER but all my efforts the past two months have paid off and my rudiments are so much easier to play.

Does it matter if the heads are put on the wrong way?

Minor set up change. removed one of the 8" toms and moved the other above the hats.

By no means...unless it's actually being played as a snare drum in which case the snare beds would be cut into the bottom edges.

Perhaps the badge was installed (or re-installed by someone) upside down. No biggie!

Nice.. I think someone has installed (reinstalled) that badge upside down.. -You see, usually Pearl has badge either just in the middle or above than below middle "line".. Never below middle/center.. If you google..

But great deal, wooden snare 30 bucks.. And the most important thing: Right brand..!

Does not matter unless the true bottom rim has snare reliefs cut into it. All you need to do is flip the sucker over, flip the snare strainer and butt plate to the right orientation and swap the heads. Odd that somebody did all of that back-***-wards.

And no, you didn't make a bad purchase. Those are decent little snares.

Just make it right and enjoy.

    Well, the G.A.S. struck again.
DW Collectors 8x14 BNOB. Too good of a deal to pass up, and this is the first time I have owned a snare that deep. Played it tonight, and thought it was pretty nice. I want to change the heads out and put some 40 strand wires on it. I want this one to be a super low toned back beat monster.
