Thanks a lot, in the future I plan to put black heads on top and bottom, add a few cymbals, and hopefully at 14" tom, but all in good time. I want to take a few lessons before I start sinking too much more money into this set.

Thanks - I like the combo too. I purchased the kicks used, and if you look - the logo's are not identical. Apparently Gretsch has discontinued all but 1 model of the black head. I am still waiting on a match (order 3 weeks ago) :-)

I also thought that I would only end up buying one drum, a marching snare, and that would be it.

However, after hanging around here, reading anecdotes, stories, and tales of drum kits... Well, I started shopping for a (non-marching) snare this morning, and I came home with this!!

I love these! Are these vintage Vistalites? Super color. Did the cymbals and hardware come with the kit?
Glad you went full kit. Drumming is awesome.
    Welcome.
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

I'm pretty sure that you have to have a certain number of posts before you can post pics.........................there is a thread on it if you search for it

It's not so much the number of posts as it is having a hosting site for the pictures initially.

Almost have the Downbeat ready for it's first gig coming up on Jan 17th. I got a little bored awaiting the arrival of the Remo Vintage As, and decided to do a trial setup.

I'll be going with the vintage cymbals listed below, except for the Armand Soundlab Prototype, as it has the most vintage sound of my current inventory:

    1964 Ludwig Downbeat w/Supraphonic

    14" A Zildjian 60's Vintage Hats
    15" UFIP 60's Vintage Crash
17" A Zildjian (Armand) SL Proto Crash
    18" A Zildjian 60's Vintage Ride

notice the phonograph behind the drums, i would put a record on, probably a 45 and play it over and over and over again and i cranked it up, well as loud as this record player would go !!!

Cool! I was living in Northridge from '64-'66, and I attended an elementary school on Napa St. Back then, I was forced into playing clarinet, because the band director said the drum section was full.
