Oh lucky you! Congratulations on the find.

Score! can't lose with that. I had the opportunity a few weeks ago, same price but I had just spent a pretty penny on cymbals and last weekend a new "used" kit.

    I'm cut off for awhile...hehehe

    Enjoy the new hats!

Nice, they look like they'd be good crash cymbals as well if you wanted to use em for that.

Thanks all. I haven't used them yet. I know, I know, I must be crazy is what you're all saying. Well, I was working on restoring/refinishing a cool snare I recently got and I have to go into work for a few hours (on my day off) this morning but I plan on trying them out this afternoon.

Yes. I have been keeping an eye on New Beats for a while. So when I came across these I didn't hesitate.

I don't know about using rides as crashes, not these anyway. I was thinking primary or secondary hats.

I agree!! A lot of things tend to sound, look and taste better when you get a great deal.

Haha. Sounds like you had a case of G.A.S. too. I love it and hate it

Apparently the person I bought them from didn't know much about drums and drum gear and didn't really care.

Ugh, hate to see that - no respect or anything for a perfectly good instrument of music. Maybe they just didn't take to it, or have yet to experience the joy drumming has to offer. Such a pity to waste potential talent, but at least some good came out of things and these wonderful cymbals found a happy home with a more appreciative owner.

I've used hi hats as crashes. Some work pretty good as crash cymbals.
