Very cool jazzkat! I must admit that sometimes my work gets in the way of my journey as a musician, too.
I just love drums and everything about them.
actually, I love percussion. period. Everything is just so awesome.
Modern technology is making the craft more enjoyable and expanding our capabilities.
I just want to play music all day, every day. There is always something to develop and practice. Something about hitting things to make sounds just tickles my fancy. I am sure you all would agree.
I recently started learning piano and I love it too!! Still very percussive, and I think I might enjoy it more than keyboards. 10 implements that are naturally attached unlike 4 mallets clumsily placed in the hands.
SO basically
Percussion rocks!
Just sayin

Jazzkat..yes you are not alone...most of us share your feelings..I too love the piano..problem is I never did anything about it,even had an old upright at one time. But never took lessons..as an older musican I wish I would have because I am not playing drums in a band and the piano would have given me a chance to play music that those listening could actually tell what I was playing, with druming by yourself mostly only you here the music in your head when practicing. If you are a young enough stay with it and practice practice practice..but keep on drumming too!
Enjoy the Music!

I'm with ya brother!
Me too! It's been a 50 year love affair!
Cheers to that! Good to hear you're branching out and picking up piano, it'll be nice to have other worlds to compare it to - see how the experiences change instrument to instrument. Can I get an amen?

Anything and everything drums is awesome!
To butcher a phrase a little bit -
"You can take the boy out from behind the drumset, but you can never take the drumming out of the boy."
41 years young and thanks to drumming I still am that boy.

I look at it this way: After almost 56 years, I must like them some.
How could you not love (in the early days) lugging them around, setting them up, having people tell you they are too loud, no place to practice, finding out you have no coodination (in the beginning), your own family thinking you are nuts, and the list goes on.
The plus side: We are way, way, cooler than guitar players.
