I've played it before. Very nice drum, very woody sounding with not too many overtones I found.
Just had a quick look at prices on the bay and $225 seems reasonable. Go have a look at it if you can though.
Snare talk here now that I have a new set on the way. I had a thread going about the Ludwig Epic snares, like them. I found a lot of you guys like the Mapex Black Panther series too. So I found a used one claimed to be in mint condition going for $225. It a 13"x5.5" Cherry shell with tube style lugs.
Anyone every have one of these snares? I tested a BP metal snare and a Maple both sounded very crisp.

Very nice snare wr_stix! I don't have that exact one, but I do have the 14X5.5 Mapex Black Panther Deep Forest Cherry snare, and I love the sound. Not quite as mellow as maple, but not bright either, although your's might be a little brighter because of the 13" size.

So still getting up to speed on what's good these days seems like a lot of guys like the Mapex snares. Not like there aren't a jillion options and custom makers out there too.
I'll ask for real pics.
Most companies make decent pro snares. Like you said, there are a ton of options. Have you done much research into different brands?
For a 'list' of brands to look at, go to the DRUMSET sub forum and look at all the brand threads at the top of the page and google each one, check out some of their lines etc.
Yes I've scanned a bunch of the threads. Still a lot to look through. The metal BP's sound good. Steel?
I hav the Black Panther Black Widdow and find it to be quite a versatile drum for the price.
During my search for a snare I spent some time with the Cherry Bomb. It is a very nice drum but the high end crack was a little restrictive in terms of situations it could be used and so I considered it more of an auxiliary snare for my purposes. I wanted a snare that was a bit of a workhorse and could be used in most situations. The cherry bomb, in that respect, was a little more limiting.
I would also check out the Tama SLP line of snares; I've heard great things about them and some of them are priced very reasonably.
i was a fan of the old cherry snare this one looks just as good
Update to post, I snagged that Cherry Bomb for $225. Ba-da bing!
So my snare inventory is now Tama Imperial Star wood vintage 1974, Rogers Dyna-sonic vintage 1970-72, Mapex Black Panther Cherry Bomb vintage now!
What's next... is this what is called G.A.S.?
Just an update for those who added their help/advice. I got the snare right after my set (Starclassic). As the seller said it's mint. Actually has new heads and not a finger print on it. Put in with the set and I like it. May not be my primary go to but it adds a nice wood snare pop, kinda crisp, little ring. Maybe needs some of that gel stuff to kill the ring. Nice hoops, easy to do rimshots.
The cherry matches the set finish pretty well too. Not bad for $224.
Looks very lovely. I'd snag it for sure at that price.

I have one. Like it quite a bit. Don't use it much though. Don't know quite why. Have had it a while. Forget what I paid for it. May have been around 200.
