Go see a doctor. An internet forum is not the place to seek medical advice.
Hey guys.
Sometimes when I'm listening to music or talking on the phone, or doing anything really, sometimes one of my ears starts to ring. It's like the ringing starts, I can't hear good out of the ringing ear, then it slowly fades away. I think it's usually my right ear. I used to have ear problems when I was little. I used have to get those tubes in my ears to drain out water.
So I was just wondering if this is a serious issue? Is it normally, especially for musicians? Is there anything I can do to make this stop?
Thanks for your help!
I have an insane admiration and respect for the craft that is drumming and I have a never-ending desire to be the best i can possibly be. I dont play drums or practice because I have to, I play because I can't help it. ~ Cobus Potgieter ~

the Northerly Redneck guy has wise words for you...go to the doctor.....oh yes and wear hearing protection when you're playing....you wouldn't like the permanent ringing in your ears that I have....K? Go!
Matbe its your phone lol
But really as said go see na doc and always wear hearing protection or the ringing will get worse
Ditto on what has been said already. Go see a doctor. Your hearing is nothing to be casual about. And with your past ear problems, there could be something that needs to be fixed right away. Good luck.

I have ringing every day and it is loudest when I'm stressed. It came from many years of loud bands and drums.
The ringing is called tinnitus and it's the result of hearing damage. Hearing damage is permanent so protect your hearing at all times. As mentioned, a visit to an audiologist is time and money well spent.
Who hasn't the ringing in the ears around here. 90% of us do so go see a doctor for a better diagnose and treatment. Goodluck
To echo what has already been said, go see a doctor, an audiologist, and get professional advice and treatment. Always wear ear protection when playing and listening to live bands. Hearing damage is permanent.

It's called tinnitus, I have the same problem. To stop it (in the future) what I would do is use hearing protection. I started using those big hearing protectors which have headphones/mini speakers in them.
I had the ringing in my ears for years. Then I started wearing protection. My doctor asked me if I smoked and replied yes and I learn from him is that if you smoke cigarettes it will cause ringing in the ears so I quit and my ears don't ring as much as they used to. Think about that if you smoke. This might sound ridiculous but you don't know till you try it. I did and it worked.
