Rush nominated to the R&R hall of fame

Finaly heard great news Rush will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on the 18 April 2013. Congrats guys you deserve it and it is past due cause in my opinion you should of been inducted many years ago.

Deep Purple
Joan Jett and the Blackhearts
Albert King
Kraftwerks
The Marvelettes
The Neters
Ransy Newman
N.W.A
Public Enemy
Donna Summers

I know some of these bands do not realy fit into the Rock & Roll genre but they are getting inducted.

It's about time! Apparently, given the others being inducted, the R & R Hall of Fame has decided to loosen the "R & R" standard that has been keeping out too many deserving bands.

The list actually nominees only. They have not yet been voted on yet, and some will not make it. Some of those artists have been nominated multiple times and have yet to be inducted. Hopefully Rush will get their due.

My top 5 from that list would be
1. Rush
2. Kraftwerk
3. The Meters
4. Randy Newman
5. Deep Purple

Donna Summer and Chic have been nominated several times each. I suspect Donna will have a better chance now that she's gone. Shame really, it would have been nice for her to receive it in person.

I'm a bigger fan of Deep Purple than I am of Rush, but I think they both equally deserve the spot in the Hall of Fame.

Well. I don't agree with Rush being over rated. In what way? The fact that the same 3 guys have been together for nearly 40 years? They haven't made even one stinker of an album yet? All the Platinum records they have achieved? The giant fan base they have created? The media hoopla in recent years in spite of established entities trying to hold them down? I think the term over rated is over rated. Anything that has been around for this long against the test of time cannot be over rated in any way. Deep Purple is suffering the same fate that Rush already has endured. Only their fan base really knows what they are all about, because the media could care less. Whereas Rush has emerged from those shadows and stepped into the media spotlight finally. Rush and Deep Purple. Then next year, Yes, King Crimson, and ELP. And no crap.....er, Rap bands. It's the Rock and Roll hall of fame, Jan, you idiot.

Haven't heard that too much. The general concensus is that they've never really recieved the recognition that they deserve.

I like about 5 or 6 Rush tunes, just not my style. Probably the most talented group of guys you'll ever find but not my fave. That being said they are literally living legends who dont get anywhere near the props they deserve from the American press. If I was in Rush I"d show up at the induction ceremony, flip the bird and leave.

LOL. Exactly. These guys are such stand up and nice guys, they would never do that. In fact Geddy Lee already wrote a thank you to the hall, but if you read between the lines, it is really a dig at the hall idiots. Here is the message:

Meaning this honor is not nearly as important to us as it is to our fans. In other words, screw you guys, we don't need the hall in order to justify what we do and where we are..
