He is a great drummer. Again, he has a sense of groove. Listen to the song “ beautiful girls” on van halen 2.
They might have an isolated drum track on you tube.
He's really grown over the years, IMHO. I saw him on their first tour back in the late '70s and wasn't impressed. Now days, some of his stuff is impossible for me to figure out let alone try to play. Good on him! I enjoy his offerings immensely.

I've always liked his stuff.. even when he went electric it sounded cool.

Who is Alex Van Halen? You mean Eddie right?
J/K yes, underrated.
No such thing as underated drummers. They are all good no matter famous or not.
I couldn't think of a better first post! With respect to individual likes and dislikes, each drummer has something to unique to bring to the table and I appreciate an optimist's mindset focusing on loving rather than judging. Kudos to you Gee Pou and welcome to our drum family here at Drum Chat!
It depends on how you want to define "underrated". Danny Seraphine seldom gets mentioned, neither does Pick Withers.
At the same time, Ringo gets mentioned in every poll I've seen. Ringo is a good guy but a pathetic drummer.
He and I have been playing about the same amount of time, but it would take me 15 seconds to lose him.
