Mate I'm feeling great, thanks for asking.
Haven't gone to a sleep specialist yet, but I think I have pretty much worked out what my problem is. I always go to sleep on my side or stomach, but my wife has noticed everytime I wake up with some distress - I was on my back. So that is the thing that is setting it off we think. I'm not breathing properly while asleep on my back.
Now days I can sense a panic attack coming and deal with it mentally before it gets too big. The old brown paper bag next to our bed is getting a workout too lol.
Thanks for asking Late8, I appreciate the thoughts mate.

I just want to throw this out there. Anyone else agree that they look very similar, or is it just me?

Yeah, maybe a little bit, but then it begs this question: Would you kiss Steve Tyler?

    Probably not.

Would you kiss Liv Tyler if the line were less than a thousand miles long?

    Probably yes.

I went to one of their shows on the Pump tour and during Dream On some jackass threw something or slingshot it because i saw this projectile whizzing overhead through the lights and right into Tyler's head above the eye.

He finished the song but immeadiatley after, the lights went out and everyone went over to him Kramer included. After about a minute he addressed the situation.

You're welcome spesman. I can't sleep on my back either. The soft pallet at the top of my mouth drops down into my airway when my muscles finally relax as I fall into REM mode and it blocks oxygen from getting to my brain causing a dramatic change in my o2/co2 levels. This is the classic symptom of obstructive sleep apnea. The brain senses a lack of oxygen and immediately sends stress signals to the heart and the kidneys and that's where the real danger is.

Repeat this night after night, year after year and the consequences can become deadly. I'm glad you and your wife recognized a possible solution to your panic attacks. When you are conscience, the panic attacks are actually anxiety driven attacks and they can be delt with. When you are fully asleep and you have a panic attack, it could be an apnea related episode which you have no control over except the lack of good sleep at night.

Please seek advice from a doctor before you discount the possibility of having obstructive sleep apnea. It took my wife to record my very loud snoring on my MP3 recorder as I slept to convince me to seek a sleep study. Lucky for me, my health insurance covered the entire cost of the study and provided me the equipment (CPAP mask) to help me breathe at night. Good luck my friend!!

Thanks mate for your advice, it means a lot to hear someone else's experience with this. Me and the missus are testing the waters so to speak as to how we're going to address it. If it happens again in a big way, I think i'll get more serious about it. In the meantime we just take it night by night and keep an eye on it.
It's so strange how it feels when it comes on. It's almost like a cross between the feeling of having a lack of air and accute claustrophobia. Like I'm trapped in a very small space with no air and I can't get out. That's when I start to panic. So we've recognised this and I'm trying to tell myself it's not that bad you know? After that I usually just fall asleep again and all is good through to when I wake up in the morning.

Aye Guys you are not alone here. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea 9 years ago and sleep with my CPAC machine. My wife kind of got concerned when I would stop breathing while sleeping and she would elbow me to get going again lol. I snored a lot too and that is how she knew that I would stop breathing. After seeing a specialist and going to the lab for the night they told me that I would stop breathing up to a 1 1/2 minutes. Jeez I can't even hold my breath that long under water LOL. I sleep good with my machine, just love it.

Back to the subject. If you do too much coke you will look like Steven. The only resemblance that I can see is the lips.

I have a CPAP as well, but I'm having difficulties sleeping with mine right now. It seems that everytime I do, my sinus problems go straight to my lungs. I used to sleep so good with it and actually felt human when I woke up.

My wife was noticing that I would quit breathing in my sleep too. She woulld get upset when I told her to take the pillow off my face

I need to go and get mine checked so I can start using it again.
    Take care and seeya!

Do you ever clean the intake foam filter on the backside of your machine? Do you ever take the water container and wash and clean it at least once a week? Maybe your ramp needs to be checked. You also have to change the machine they ( manufacturer) say every five years. Mine is about 7 years old and still works fine and sleep well with it too. Anyway hope you figure out what the problem is cause not getting a good night sleep sucks.

That is the way it is here subjects get changed and all of a sudden we are back on the topic.
Even though Steven Tyler may look a bit feminine with the long hair, makeup, finger polish he is still a man, father and very successful singer. No matter what people say about him he is happy.

My first U.S. rock concert was an Aerosmith show at the Cow Palace near San Francisco back in 1977. I managed to fight my way to the front of the stage and lasted only 10 minutes before I had a panic attack and had to leave the floor for higher ground. What an introduction into the U.S rock scene!!
