That guy is a fantastic drummer.
A friend posted this on FB. I had to laugh. the guy is a great drummer. What made me laugh is he's playing Prog Metal drumming in a band you wouldn't expect to see it in.
It's 8:40 long but man this guy shreds the double kick at times. You must watch at least a few minutes.
That guy is a fantastic drummer.
That was awesome. Keyboard guy seemed non-plussed at times though.
lol, that is a funny, not the first time ive seen stellar drumming in a hebrew/klezmer setting, though that double bass is definitely a first! this guy is certainly shredding it!

Awesome! Mazel Tov!!
That was great!
Awesome drummer. Look how precise he hits judging by his snare wear marks. Jewish Progressive Folk Rock. That's it, I just have to learn how to play open handed now. It looks so flowing. And not having to cross hands at all. Are they dancing to this? Very cool.

I don't want to rain on the parade but he's overplaying... BIG TIME!
I'm not taking anything away from his ability. He's got a lot of chops. But he's not using them tastefully and a lot of bands won't stand for it.
I wonder if this is the same guy?
Great chops, tastless, out of place but good chops.
That's no part time drummer, he's pro.
I really enjoyed that! Didn't think I would watch the whole thing, but I did.
A part time drummer, to me, is someone who gigs but works a 9 to 5 to pay the bills.
I certainly don't mean it as a put-down, there are thousands out there doing just that.
I've just watched that vid again and I swear I've seen that guy before, years ago, but I can't put my finger on where or when.
I think I found a new drum hero. From now on, when people will argue as to who's the best drummer out there, I'm not gonna mensch-tion any of the well known names....I'm just going to post this guy.

holy cow i just realized i know this cat! he lived in a friends house for a time when in the new york area, and id run in to him on occasion, in fact i remember him mentioning playing in a klezmer thing. attended a party with him and talked books, a big Cormac MCcarthy proselytizer, quite especially Suttre.
also i gave him a cracked oriental crash which he said he could get zildjian to replace for him/me though sadly it never happened nor had i ever gotten the cracked cymbal back, darn! well no bad blood anyhow, a very charismatic fellow whose foibles were as interesting as his formidable talents, and yes he was a pro.
just checked his web site, pretty cool. Thanks for the trip NPYYZ!

I love overplaying. Honestly, I do. I love what he's doing. Makes the music interesting to me. I really don't care for laying back in the cut and just grooving.
What got my attention is that, judging from the lack of leg movement, he is playing the bass pedals heel down. He's getting incredible speed, and he's not wearing out. I agree it's a bit over played, but you've got to take your hat off to the chops.
