I always wanted to get some hard cases for my kit when i get it (The reference) But ill get bags for my cheaper ones... It kinda takes some of the impact from denting and definatly helps stop scratching! :>

As for hardwear i havent learnt how to protect that yet. Everyone i know gets an old trunk and throws it all in there

They are great for lugging around. I've actually dropped a "8 tom and not a single scratch at all. The wool lining is thick and really easy on the shell while the padding in the middle and the outer water resistant cover give it really great durability. I have them for all my drumshells. I don't like the hardware bags though. I guess it's because I have so many stands, total weight appox. 450 lbs. (DW 9000 stands are so heavy >"< ). If you have a moderate cymbal setup, Hi Hat, 2 crashes, ride, and a splash and a china, a bag from Protection Rachet should be ok. Anything more, you can't beat hardcases.

drummer I respect your advice so I'll look into them. I currently have Protector cases and I hate them. When I first got them I broke two handles within six months or so. I want some really sturdy cases......Do you have the link of their website by chance? Blessings.........

Does anyone have any experience with the RIMS variation of Protection Racket cases? My floor tom is 14x12, and I accidentally bought the Protection Racket 14x12 with RIMS and it's absolutely huge! Not height-wise but it could definately feel more snug around the shell. Is it the RIMS that add the extra bit of diameter, or are they just supposed to be huge?

Thanks in advance to anyone that can answer

I've got a 14"-6.5" snare bag from Protection racket, and It really fits my 14"-7" snare perfectly. I'm saving up for the rest of the bags for my kit

Kona, i didn't know that ford made congas...lol
I have the 20x24 Protection racket bag. it's a little tight for my Mapex
24" because of the way the Bass drum spurs stick out more then normal.
i just throw a bed sheet over the drum and then slide the bag over.
Just so the zipper teeth don't scratch the finish. The bag is awesomely made!
very happy with it. I wonder if they make a larger bass drum bag, For all us mapex Saturn and Orion owners. Like a 20x26 bag??

    Ricky,
It's worth noting that those are English measurements. Meaning all the sizes Bafke listed are the "diameter X depth".

If there's something you need, just contact them and they'll make it for you. I am an endorser and the company are among the very best I have ever encountered, both in terms of the product and the exceptional people that work there...

Hey Mark, Thanks, but I'm fine with this bag. The sheet just adds more scratch protection. They would have to custom make it as they don't have a 20x26.
That would be even more expensive. I did get a great deal on this 20x24 bag.
$106. My wife is awesome at finding coupon codes which saved us like another $10.

Now that i have some i can say that these protection racket bags are really good. There snug, but not too tight, nice wool fleece on the inside to stop scratching, and between that and the canvas bag its very protected. Of course there not as protective as hard cases. But the idea of bags is they are a little vulnerable but lighter. I find if you look after it as if its not in a bag then they will serve you well

And they have three handles on the kick bag :P

I got the list from their site, and they are noted diameter x depth.
Those sizes wouldn't make sense otherwise.

So yes, they have 26" diameter models.

In europe, we place the diameter first, in America, the depth is placed first.
American retailers & companies note it the american way, european retailers and companys note it the european way.

    Bafke,
when i ordered my Drum bag for my bass drum they ask depth x diameter
so i ordered the 20 X 24 bag. It fits just fine.
if you have a 24" wide X 20" depth, you need to order the 20 X 24 bag.
