a lot of talk about never seeing acrylic. Alex Van Halen had acrylics didn't he? (79-80 kit) I always thought that's mostly what they were made out of

    btw looks great

    Thank you for sharing this.

Very nice job on the octobans.

I have seen some drummers make them using 4" PVC. Not sure how they would sound though.

In any event, very nice work. Thank you for taking the time to post pics and step-by-step explanations of the process.

Awesome looking. I am wondering what your four pedals are for, though. I'm guessing two for kick, one for hats, and then one for something else. What is this something else?

I'm not sure how 4" would work for heads, I haven't seen them smaller than 6".

I will! I promise tomorrow my hole will be filled! Err, wait...

I will finish them this weekend. I did 2 of the 4 and want to get them all done before making any "official" statements. I did notice a difference, though.

Yes, Alex had acrylic. Mike Portnoy's were fiberglass composite for many years until recently his new Adrenaline Mob octos are all acrylic to match his drums.

The outside pedal on the left operates my auxiliary remote hi hats, which are located just above my ride.

Thanks for all the kind words, guys! I'll post back soon with more pics and sound files to compare.

I have to agree the bearing edges make them sound better. Nice job.
