Here's a few pics of the new snare with my '68 Ludwig 3pc. It's amazing how good these shells sound after 45 years.

Amazing, my favorite kit of yours. The finish is perfect, the accented bass hoop, lug style, sexy chrome, oof! Very nice.

lol!! Will do kay!! ...This kit has alot of sentimental value. It's the first I ever owned, which my late dad helped me out by paying half for many years ago and the drummer I bought it from was a friend who passed away from colon cancer. I vowed never to sell this kit and my buddy never had a chance to see me play it. Good memories!! Thanks for stopping by!

Since late8 and I are friends and live fairly close to one another, I'll let you know how awesome they are once he gets them.

That is one beautiful kit. I've heard drums sound better as they age. Have you found this to be the case? Also what kind of cymbals are those? They are stunning.

Thanks SparrowBeat! Yes, I've found that these drums have aged well since I've owned them from the early '80s. The tonal characteristics have changed since I've taken the wrap off and left them uncovered. The lack of a wrapped finish, created in my opinion, less unwanted overtones then what I remember hearing when the shells were finished with a wrap. The cymbals are all Sabian AAX series: 14" AAX fast hats, 16" AAX studio crash (stage right) 18" AAX Dark crash (stage left), 20" AAX stage ride, and 17" AAX Xtreme chinese.

LOL, Russ.............after looking at the very cool vintage Ludwigs in this thread I was going to tell late8 the opposite !

Never sell those gorgeous Ludwigs, but it won't be long before you spend all your drum-time with the famous USA Customs.

(I still can't believe he ordered the EXACT SAME FINISH that I ordered 36 years ago in 1977.............I love it !
..............I suppose the only differences are that my shells are Jasper and the drums were constructed in Booneville, Arkansas.)

What made you think of that?
