For me, it used to be my Zildjian 19" K Dark Crash. Then it went the way of the crack. Now I have a 20" Constantinople that is great! I will also have to look at the newly redesigned Zildjian A series. I have been digging the Sweet rides.

K's sound fairly dark to me, great series except i'm more into warm or bright cymbal sounds that cut. Just glad the cymbals I like don't cost as much, cause there's no way I could afford a full setup of K's.

I also love my 18" AAX Xplosion Fast Crash. I'd call it my go-to cymbal. My runner up would be a 16" AAX Dark Crash in Brilliant

Hey late that's a really nice crash! I have A custom hats and ride, but have not had the pleasure of using these. How do they sound and perform for you? Are they like A's at all? I have medium thin Avedis crashes and wonder if they fall into more of a thinner or heavier weight. Kind of a weird question I guess, but I was wanting a little perspective from an owner.

Howdy Russ! Man you made some great purchases. If I had the cash, I'd go completely with A Customs. They can be bright (14, 16, crash) or they can get dark (18, 19 crash) They are brighter than A's much like the Sabian AAX line. I had the 16" AAX studio crash and the 16" A Custom crash set up on the same kit and the AAX 16" studio crash was a tad darker than the 16" A Custom. You can't go wrong with the A Custom sound!!

All nice crashes guys. For me though, my personal favourite is my 14" Paiste Signature Thin Crystal Crash.....they're the slightly weird looking ones Paiste produce with a flatten bell. Has a great shimmer to them. Not a basher's cymbal, however....for that I still have my 2002's and some other heavier cymbals in my collection.

I have a picture below of my favorite crashes.I won't buy in to the best crash ever made BS.It's what you like.I can tell you that Paistes are the worse, not because of the sound,I think they are awesome, but because they break easy and way over priced. But damn, they do sound awesome!
On the left I have an 18" HHX Evolution Crash and on the right I have my 17" HHX Evolution crash.I think the 17" sounds better then the 18" crash. I also like the AAX Fast Crashes.I have an 18" and it sounds close to the 18" Evolution crash, just the Evo is a bit darker sounding. In the picture below, the small cymbal in the middle is my 14" HHX Evolution China. One of the best smaller China's I have heard.

I love my AAX dark crashes too...And I have a 17 inch AAX xplosion fast crash as well, it gives good contrast to the darks. I have the 16 dark and 17 xplosion fast crash next to each other and I hit them together quite a bit. The compliment each other very well I think

I think my most revered crash is my 15" Sabian AAX or my 16" Zildjian A Custom. I love the quick bright splash without a lot of sustain. Perfect for accents.

Still have both today and both are still excellent.
I have the same cymbal, but I believe its from early 80's. It my favorite as well.

I will say the 17" Evolution crash sounds better then the 18" Evolution crashes and the 18" Xplosion fast crashes. I traded my 18" Xplosion Fast crash for an 18" Evolution crash. I was planning on keeping the AAX one,but found that deal and went ahead and traded. The 2 18" Evolution crashes do sound different and the 17" Evolution just compliments them!

18" A crash ride, just listen to Art Blakey on this one, and here the explosive amazingness

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FHKyVJ5YfNU

I'm pretty sure it's the primary cymbal Mitch Mitchell is using on manic depression.

Great for jazz, great for Jimi, like the heavens made a cymbal specifically for me

    and it looks cool too!
