    Talking Saluda Cymbals???

So... Its been a long time since I've been on here! There will be different post for updates on that subject. For this one, I'd like some input on Saluda cymbals!

A friend of mine has an Earthworks crash by them which looked very cool. It was semi unfinished in the center (dry-like) and the edges were traditionally finished. I didn't really pay much attention to it at the time, but I wish I had!

Anyone have experience with these? I'm considering their Mist X 19, 17 inch crashes and 8" V bell (all brilliant to match my zildjian ride)

From what I have already heard, they are just as good as Zildjian A's or any other big name/series. They are superrr cheap!!! A 19 and 17 inch crash is about $300usd, whereas 1 Zildjian A Custom 19 inch is about 260ish.

Some input on these saludas would be great, I'm certain theyre worth it as of right now.

Shane also uses Saluda cymbals in all of his cover videos and they sound really good on those.

I don't think you can go wrong with Saluda. The price is well below the big companies, and you can ask for the specific sound you want. Be prepared for it to take up to 6 weeks for your items to arrive, but in the meantime you can imagine how cool it is that one guy is hand making your new cymbals. Check out my youtube stuff (linked in my signature) if you'd like to hear my collection.

    Good luck!

Thanx for starting this thread Frazz, i was actually checking out the saluda cymbals on their website & they look pretty distinctive. The Prices also cought my attention and to hear them compared to Zildjians makes me take them a little more serious.

A friend of mine has purchased an entire set of nemesis cymbals. They sound great, but are a little subdued for my taste. I guess I'm used to the harshness of my Zildjians.

The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

Thanks everyone! and Ty Shane! Your covers are fantastic! nice mix of styles.

I think I might be 99% sold on the Saludas. I'm interested in Mist X to match my Brilliant Zildjian ride. I want to go with a 17" and 19" and maybe an 8" V-Bell? :o

I have purchases Glory, Decadence, Nemasis series pies from Saluda and am extremely happy with the product, service and entire buying experience with the company. I don't think you can go wrong. Jaime will make you exactly what you want.

I'll preface this by saying I don't own any Saluda pies (yet) but I find it really cool and very impressive that 1 guy can make a cymbal exactly to your described sound. That's awesome.

I have been looking into them since i first started watching shane's videos.

Do you what the difference is between the various series?

The series all seem to be comparable in price.
    Take care and seeya!

I ditched all of my Zildjians as well as a small set of Paistes to trade them in for my full set of Saludas.

    See some of my pics.

I talked to Jamie on the phone quite a bit while he was making them and had lots of custom work done.

16 and 18 Nemesis crashes - medium - and I had him thin the edges for a quicker decay and brighter sound.

Prototype 22 ride and 14 hats - had him custom notch the bottom hat and vent the top hat in a triangle pattern - very bright and very quick.

Tesla 16 china - medium thin - 10 splash - had him do circular striping around the bells of these to blend them visually with the Nemesis' and Prototypes.

6 v-bell - had him pre age it and stripe it to match everything else.

I absolutely love the entire set up.

I sent him my trades in a Cymbal Safe and he sent it back to me with my Saludas in it all individually plastic wrapped.

Killer deal on the trade in, too, by the way.

I recently bought an 18" Earthworks -- with some custom design features -- and I love it. Sonically, it fits perfectly between my 16" Paiste Signature fast crash and my 20" Dream Contact crash/ride. Here's a link to the thread where I was "discovering" Saluda. It has some videos that should be helpful in getting an idea of what the cymbal sounds like. Suffice it to say, it was pretty much exactly what I was looking for.
