I think that it's awesome that RUSH has finally received their long overdue recognition. Good for them. Alex's acceptance "speech" pretty much summed the whole process up perfectly. He may have only been saying blah, blah, blah the whole time, but if you watch and listen, you'll get it.

The best thing about Rush is they have stuck to their music and not many bands can say that. Most have to do some catchy normal tunes to sell. Nuff said And for the black Barbie on A Idol cant stand her voice. Just my HO

Geez, why all the hate for the Stones? I'm not a big fan either, but you can't deny the influence they've had on the music world, and just the world in general. They're certainly one of, if not THE most legendary and influential rock bands of all time. And props for making it to 50 years, even if they do look like they're about to drop dead at any second.

Like I said, I'm not a big fan, but they deserve more respect than y'all are giving them.

Neil Peart is a private, shy person. His choice of profession puts him in the public eye, something he has struggled with throughout his career. A line from the song Limelight , "I can't pretend a stranger is a long awaited friend" rings true for him. While he certainly appreciates the fans, he just can't act as if he know's them , or they know him, or wants to spend any time with them.

No, your spot on. He's a classic introvert. "An introvert is likely to enjoy time spent alone and find less reward in time spent with large groups of people, though he or she may enjoy interactions with close friends." Doesn't know what to say or how to act when addressing a stranger one on one as well. That's why he doesn't do the meet and greets at their shows like Alex and Geddy do after every show. Peart can't handle it. But, it seems as if he is coming out of his shell in recent years, though. I guess most geniuses have some type of quirk that set's them apart from the typical.
