What song is the tab for?

Chances are you aren't going to have a timpani because its a huge percussion drum. There are normally three of them tuned to different notes in an orchestra or big band.

I guess you could improv and use your toms with your hands or something. Don't know how timpanis sound.

You could probably substitute the Timps for your toms. Usually mallets are used on timpanis, so if you have time, maybe you could change your sticks also.

    Cool Any one know?

If I read your question correctly, lee, you're asking what notation tympani would have on sheet music?

If you're using school music (the kind used for band class or for marching bands), it'll give you the visuals a little better than how I'll explain it here...

If you have two or three tympani tuned to specific notes, your staff would likely have the parts marked out for Timp 1, Timp 2, Timp 3, etc. Most drum charts assign the cymbals, bass, snare and toms to specific notes on the staff; same is true if you're playing bongos, congas, triangle, etc.

In this case, it shows what drums are played where...

    Hope this helps...
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!
