Here they are folks. Not the best pics, but you will get the idea. Better pics, when the weather clears and I take them outside. Oh I forgot I got a new DW snare as well 13x5 Cast Aluminum with satin chrome hardware, and Mag throw. It's amazing

Anyway here is the link to the pics.

I tune mine a little higher than a lot of guys, especially metal players. I tune the batter up higher than JAW (just above wrinkle) and same with the front. I like a nice look boom from my kick for projection.

I use a single ply Evans GMAD on the batter and single ply EQ3 on the reso with a kickport.

On a 22" I go pretty loose but on a 20" I almost always go tighter.

With a 20" you can get it to resonate and 'sing' really well to the point where it acts like a tom. I also generally don't use any dampening in the drum with a 20", just whatever is built into the head. I would start at medium tension and work down until you find the right balance between resonance and punch. Small adjustments make a big difference. I've played with a lot of different head combo's on my DW and honestly my favorite is the factory heads btw, on the BD anyway. The toms resonate too much with the factory heads. They sound fantastic by themselves but they get overwhelming when you try and play with a band or record anything. They are constantly resonating.

Either way the reso is always slightly tighter then the batter.

Nice, enjoy the kit. Every once in a while, I still miss my DW kit just because it was so nice. I let it go because I felt my Pearl kit sounded just as good, and had similar tone and depth! I wanted a 2nd kit that was a changeup and my Tama Starclassic birch has turned out to be my perfect sound. If you like maple drums with great depth and warmth, then DW is an amazing choice, especially the VLT shells!

Ooo VLT's.. Those sound pretty sweet on rack toms! Very full sounding, but a bit higher pitched than the other ones they use in SSC configs.
