People spend a lot of money for "custom" drums that in the end are going to sound like.............................well............. .........drums.

yeah but then you have something special that no one else or minimum people have.
It's like your mustang.... why are you modifying it? Was it not good enough for you the way it was? Or you trying to make it your own? Cause in the end... isn't it still just "a car"

Zack, that's the old apples and oranges comparison.

There was no way I could get a car that does everything my GT does for $25,000. At the same time, you can get a $2,000 set of drums that, in the hands of a good drummer that knows how to tune and that set will sound just as good as a $20,000 set.

Now comes the part that I hate. Being practical. I no more needed a $45,000 GT than someone needs a $25,000 custom set of drums.

Got about 10 gigs under her belt and going very well, although I have been gigging my luddies the last few gigs. This sublime Birch kit is a good change of pace when I need to hear a slightly different tone. Love the Ludwig Atlas rail consolette I added as well. Works very well.

Rukus is a great custom brand being built right here on Long Island, by a guy I'm humbled to call my friend. Pete builds each drum by hand, laying up the wood shells in unique combinations of species, and giving them beautiful finishes. I have had the privilege of playing a few of his kits as they are house kits at some of the best venues around here. He is quickly gaining international notoriety for the sound and craftsmanship of his drums and he recently built a snare for Todd Sucherman. I visited his shop and I am hopefully going to be ordering a snare from him in the very near future.
