When you start off with a song you buy, and you are wanting to make a drum cover with your drum beat, what is the best way to delete/minimize the original drummers beat?

    Current equipment:
    Humm drums electric
    Zildjian gen16
    Labtop with (audacity)
    Td-20 Roland module

Most people just play over the drum track. It's extremely difficult if not impossible to remove the drums from a track while leaving the other instruments intact. The drum kit takes up broad range of frequencies that are also used by other instruments, and if you remove those frequencies, the track will end up sounding pretty bad.

You could try squish the kick and snare but like zack said most likely you will loose a lot of other instruments too depending in the song

    thats correct.

I often take out some of the lows and find out the kick frequencies to drop.. as they stand out the most... then i usually drop the eq a BIT for the snare to get rid of the pop.. thats about all you can do

ive seen some people pan the original track to left or right and have their drums in both so your louder than the original track

Isn't there a place to get drumless tracks of famous tunes? That would be cool.

This guide on YouTube is the best method I've come across for removing drum parts

If you watch some of his drum videos, he uses the same method to get rid of drums on the songs he does and I think they sound pretty good!

Great for removing electronic techno drums.

unfortunately real drums are not the same sample to a click for 4 minutes.

Best bet is to look for drumless tracks. Google music4drums to find them.
