    I use a DW 9000 3 sided rack. Sturdy.

I think it depends on the size of the kit. Using a rack can significantly reduce the overall "footprint" of your setup. I love the way they both look. And setup time is always going to be the worst part, no matter how much gear you bring to the show. I've had both my Pearls and my DWs racked, and broken down to smaller setups in the past. If I'm just playing a 4 piece, or a 1 up, 2 down configuration I would never use a rack for that. Anything more than a 5 piece can go either way IMHO.

Here's a few pics of what I've done. I've had the same straight Pearl Icon rack since 2004-ish? It's been with me for a long time, never failed. Some pics of the Pearls and the DWs with and without...and a couple of the PDPs...never racked these, just looks better without I think.

At this point, I've lost interest in using traditional racks, I might use some kind of stealth or other kind of low height rack, but likely never again on the full on thing. Racks are too big for what I normally get to play out these days, and when I do get to go big, the rack would be too unwieldy to carry myself.

The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

I have a 10" AAX Splash but never have I heard in person what the AAX China's sound like.I have HH and HHX China's.The HH ones are 18"s and sound a bit trashy but not over powering and the 20" HHX is a very mellow, laid back kind of China.Sounds good though.

My kits changed a bit since the picture. This is about 3-4 months old but still can give ya an idea of the rack.

    I don't have a rack, but I wouldn't mind the Christina Hendricks model. :D

Totally agree with RDH03. If it were a 1 up 2 down or something small, no way I'd use a rack.

Actually considering a few cymbal stands and tom stand for when a smaller footprint is required.

I prefer my mini rack. Lol

Also I've never had any slippage issues. I even once had a 20" kick drum mounted on my like a gong drum using one clapm and it never moved.

Here's a shot of it: My old Premier it I used for a Rush Tribute band. I mounted it using the tom mount on the kick. I got a pice of metal tube that fit the mount hole and put it in a clamp, never moved.

    My current rack.

Wow impressive I like it, how many drums

When I offset the ride toms, the 10" tom stays with me because of the curve. I also like that the PDP logo piece has an integrated level. The perfectionist in me likes that feature.

Love your set PB ....you should change the PDP on the front to PB

I've used a rack set up like the pick below for several years, but I'll also use stands. Racks are nice b/c they setup pretty much the same every time and it's easier to fit several cymbals (and other stuff) in a small amount of floor space. That said, I have a pickup, but I usually use my HHR to haul my equipment (in case it rains). The rack will fit, but man! is it an incredible pain in the butt! I rarely use the left side rack anymore (drummer's left!)
