Sad thing is,
Most music schools won't accept you purely based on your musical abilities or knowledge.
For those who are looking at schools, I found this really neat site. Check it out.

Hm they normally take people who have marks in certain subject. Then people with feild normally rank over them too :P
There are three things they use over ehre..
School marks, community service, Real field practice.
These three things get so many points for what they are. (Goes through a board) Then ur ranked by a score. They would do something simular :P

Uummm...I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. If you are trying to go to a school that is strictly a conservatory, like Juliard, then all that matters is your musical ability. If you want a liberal arts degree, then yes, you need to be literate as well.

And if you want a Bachelor of Science degree, like I got, then you just need to be a nerd!

Namecalling isnt gonna get us anywhere.
Why are you taking offence? In case you havnt noticed, hes not being entirely serios.
Oh, give him a break, Vinny. He's probably had to fill 50 orders for number 2 with a Coke today.
BTW- that's Mr. Douche Bag to you 32nd!
Seriously, I started this thread to share a cool website that might be useful to some of the members here. If college music programs aren't your cup of tea, that's fine. I think the sour grapes attitude is silly, though.

Cool! Does this mean I don't my number 2?
Seriously, I've heard really good thing about Cal Arts. Might be worth checking out. They're supposed to be pretty affordable too.

Oh my, sarcasm much? XD
Today, on Ethel The Frog...
Now it's time to add a little sanity to the lunacy (or is that the other way around, since that's usually what happens when I throw my two cents into the ring)...
If you can't find a strictly musical college, you may want to check out other schools that have good music programs (and RD had the right idea by recommending the websites above)...
If, for example, there's a liberal arts school that has a great orchestra or jazz lab band, they should be included in your search. If they've got a killer jazz band, someone's doing something right in the music department!
BTW, it's always a good idea to find a useful minor that you can fall back on if for some reason your music major goes flat...or, better still, that complements your music studies...so you can be the dude who rides herd on the kids who take the orders for #2 with a Coke (I'd rather have the #5 with a Diet Pepsi, if you don't mind...)
keep the beat goin' ... Don't keep it to yourself!
