What number is it? Can you take a pic?
Today, I just became the proud new owner of a Neil Peart Paragon 16" crash I bought on ebay. When I received my crash, I noticed a number engraved above the bell of the cymbal. This struck me as odd as I have never seen a number engraved in a Neil Peart Paragon cymbal before and they are not on my other two currently owned Paragon cymbals. I know this is a stupid question, but I'm curious. Has anyone ever seen a number engraved on a Neil Peart Paragon cymbal before?

Maybe someones personal serial number. You sure it ain't hot?!
all the best...
Yup. Mine do as well. I think it's for if you were to purchase a full set, they are tonally synchronized with each other. And it is used as a lot number if you will. Part of a grouping of Paragons. You sure it's not on your other Paragons? Cause it's on all of mine. Awesome cymbal, isn't it? I love em. Cheers.

Thanks for the tip wolvie. I had no idea, but that's a very interesting fact. I literally cannot find a number on any of my other Paragons at all. This one has a 6-digit number on it. Although I seriously doubt it's a hot item, I'll just leave it at it's a 6-digit number. I'm also looking at a 20" Paragon crash now. Fingers crossed, I will hopefully win it :D Maybe I'll find the number on this crash as well...? But anyway, just wanted to make sure I'm not using a cymbal that might be worth collecting rather than using. Oh, and yes, this crash is awesome! I started with a 10" Paragon splash, and now I'm about 75% all Paragon. I love these cymbals!

Never noticed any numbers on my Paragon hats, but I haven't looked all that close. I'll check.
Having said earlier that all my Paragons had serial numbers prompted me to look again. As it turns out only the 16" crashes (4712, 4414), 22" ride (4975), and 13" hats (4440) have stamped numbers. The 18" & 20" crashes, 20" small flange china, 19" china aren't stamped. Wonder why? Thought for sure it was a complete numbering system thing.

I just check out my 18 crash and it has no number stamped on it.
Love my Gretsch sound!
Ok, now I know this cymbal's not stolen as I have 4971 on my 16" crash. But now I'm curious as to what the numbers mean exactly. I always just thought it was a quantity or even a serial number, but now i have no idea. I must research this one for clarification.

My 8" splash doesn't have anything like that on it.
Don't you hate it when a sentence doesn't end the way you octopus?
