    What is a ply And what plies are better than others?

    plies mean layers. how many layers of wood there are in the drum. the quality of wood is more important than the number of plies. the more plies, the less it projects and viceversa

    Generally, the more plies in a drumshell, the heavier the shell and the deeper the sound...kinda the flip side of the more plies, the less projection...

    theres also 1 ply skins, and 2 ply skins, the 2 plies is deeper.
