I live on/near the Mississippi and Rock rivers.

I hate to say it but the outcomes are never good. Have them start looking a couple miles downstream. Especially with the high water.

Agreed. Every year, there's at least one drowning in the Colorado River. The water is really rough and treacherous in several areas and there are a lot of undercurrents. I live in an area close enough to the river, that when we hear about another drowning, odds are real good it was someone who lived in our area. So far this year, there haven't been any deaths. Yet. (Knocking on wood.)

Nothing.......they had the funeral, but never did find the body.

I realized I never updated this thread..........they found his body last year.............pretty rough for the family, it was almost like they had to experience his death again.

On o good note............his widow is getting remarried this summer..........heard he is a real good man.

Was asked to play at the wedding...........not sure if I could do it.

When I was a kid growing up in northern Mn., I was always required to wear a life jacket when I was around water. The reason wasn't because of inability to swim, it was because the water was extremely cold. Hypothermia makes it a bit difficult to swim no matter how good a swimmer you are.

Summer is almost upon us, so people if you drink, don't drive or go out into open waters without a life jacket. Life is too precious to go and lose it by drowning.

You are right, Bish. We do a lot of boating and anytime the boat's moving, I want life jackets on. If you were to catch the prop on something or get tossed out for some reason, you could get knocked out and drown. The life jacket will at least keep your head above water.
