    Default My new kit!

My brother's going to be playing out again (after a hiatus for a few years) and needed a kit. I'm just starting out playing with someone new besides my normal band, so we decided to pool our money and get a new kit!

So we've ordered a Mapex Meridian Maple 20/10/12/14/14 in the natural finish from my local shop which should be in middle of next week. Guy is giving me a very good price (cheaper than most online), and as always I love doing business with them.

We thought about Sonor 3007's and Concept Maples, but decided on the Mapex because we wanted to buy from a local store for customer service and to give the shop business. We're both playing stuff on the lighter side, so we went with maple and 20" kick. Assuming the stock heads are as bad as usual, have to decide between coated A's, or might try Vintage A's for a slightly thicker head.

Pics to follow, but here's a stock pic for now.

    Cool................I like Meridians.

And one thing I've noticed here at the DC board -- one thing we all agree on is that we all like new kits.............be sure to post pix.

$769, which I thought was a decent price. Was $829 most places I saw it online. He said he'll throw something in for free too (probably sticks).

I'm really looking forward to it.

Nice price. It's nice to do business with your local guy. I've been doing biz with my local drum shop for nearly 30 years and like the character on "Cheers" Norm, they know me by name and shoutout when I walk in.

Mapex Meridians are a drum kit that noone but the elitists can find fault with (and even then the elitists have trouble).
The Birch (which I own) are amazing drums, the Maples are amazing drums and they all have superb finishes - it's all about your personal preference at the end of the day but you know you're going to get a superb drum kit for a great price.

    * no, I don't work for Mapex, I just love the drums

I had a natural maple Gretsch kit for many years, so unfortuneatly I tired of the colour, but under yellow and pink lights, there was no better looking kit in my eyes. The natural maple like white, really accepts colour lighting, much like a chameleon.
