Finally got 'em...

My love for Sabian AAXplosions are well documented, and ever since the Cymbal Vote earlier this year I've wanted a set of the hats. I hate paying full price for cymbals, so I've been scouring CL & the 'bay, watching for a good price. I couldn't wait any longer, though, and picked up a pair over the weekend. They were waiting on my doorstep today, and I can't wait to play them! At $200, I paid more than I've ever paid for cymbals--even my HHX Evolution hats were only $150--but I'm sure it'll be worth it.

Can't wait to lay into these!

eBay...I've picked up every one of my cymbals either on the 'bay or at pawn shops. They're just too expensive to pay full price. That makes it easier--and better--if I end up not liking one; I can always resell it & get my money back (and sometimes make a few bucks on it!) I paid $140 at a pawn shop for the 22" AAX Metal ride, and $40 for a AA rock ride (which I turned around and swapped even-up somewhere else for a medium ride.)

I know some people don't like the 'bay, and are all about supporting the local store. I buy all my sticks and most heads locally, both of which I buy quite a bit of. I've bought two kits at the local store in the last 5-6 years, knowing I could have paid less online. Cymbals, tho...I'm picky. If I bought one new in a store and ended up not liking it, I'd take a bath on it by selling it. And cracking a $250-$300 cymbal would just kill me...

I rarely buy a new cymbal,I always look for used. Most of my cymbals are used.I look at GC used section,craigslist,ebay and pawn shops. Always seem to eventually find what I am looking for used.I paid $199 for my Evo hats and thought it was a good deal,$150 is even better is they are in good condition.

Seriously, I love these hats...brighter, louder, & more definition vs the Evos. I've only played them at rehearsal, but tomorrow's the show & I really get to lay into them. Can't wait (agian!)
