Do you think it would be better to have two one hour drum lessons or one two hour lesson in the same week ? I think you could get more out of a two hour lesson as it would give you more time to nail the stuff that you are being taught rather than go home and try to remember what you did in your lesson.Anyone got any experience or advice on the subject?

i'd say 2 1 hour lessons, you don't want overkill, plus you can practice then go back a few days later, take your phone with a recording app then you can replay the lesson over and over.

I gotta agree with MTC. A two hour lesson can get quite long, plus, you can only absorb so much information in one lesson unless you have a photographic memory or something. lol!

With the last teacher I had, one hour lessons were just enough for him to get his lesson "spelled" out for the week and it was just enough for me to remember and practice. Every drum teacher I have ever had would give me my lessson each week and expect me to practice it all week and be able to perform it for him the following week. If I didn't, he wouldn't move on to the next thing.

I would suggest 2 one hour lessons.

With my students....I offer weekly 30 minute lessons, or bi-weekly one hour. Obviously depends on material and what we are working on. But the one hour works well for some students....some prefer 30 minute lessons.

If you have a teacher that keeps things interesting and can break it up, a two hour lesson will go by pretty quickly and you can knock it out all at once. Remember to tape your Drum Lessons so it helps with recall.

I do a 1 hour a week and it works well for me. I thought 30 minutes was not enough as I was having so much fun. I have done a 2 hour lesson and drummer is right it goes by quickly but we got a lot done. You will have to see what you like best.

My son does 1 hour every 2 weeks but probably going to move it up to 1 hour every week since he is learning faster and more at each lesson.

All depends how well you want to absorb the lesson, 1 hour every 3 months would work for me. If you feel you can retain and actually put into your drum vocabulary that much info every week, then power learn.
