Default Audio interface & standard laptop compatibility

    Hey guys,

quick question for anyone who records - if I were to use an audio interface (I'm looking at the Tascam US-1800 or similar spec) to record my drums, would a standard laptop (i5 processor, 4gb ram) be capable of running this, or would there be a lot of latency?

That laptop would be more than adequate. I'm running a desktop i3 with 4gb and it's smooth. I'm running the US-1800 on it.

You will have latency no matter what , it's a matter of what software you have to combat the lag with ... If you can get it down to 5-2ms then the difference is not audible
