    Congrats on the kit!

Are they used or brand new and what sound are you after?

I generally always rid of the stock heads immediately in favor of my preference. Not sure what sound you are seeking but a "safe" starting point is a single ply coated top with a single ply coated or clear reso. Evan's G1's are my favorites but that's just my preference for sound and feel being a jazz player.

What is your preferred style and sound?

I agree get rid of the original heads. I would go for the coated Evans G2's/G1's best combo with my experience my toms. As for the snare coated G2's/Hazy 300. Good luck hope this helps.

I like playing rock beatles ,doors, eagles, Jefferson airplane ,steve miller groups from the 60's 70's but I've been thinking of trying to learn some metal songs avenged sevenfold what would be good heads for this. I was thinking of evens g1 and g2 or remo pinstrips

Clear pinstripes or ambassadors work well for Maple Cat's..
    Ludwig Classic Maple 22x16,10x8,12x9,16x16
    7" Moon Gel Practice Pad
    Sabian HHX Legacy

Decide whether this is love for the craft or simply an ego thing

I'm thinking this thread is in the wrong forum. Are we trading heads here?
