This guy is freakin' nuts. I've tried playing a little bit of Periphery and really didn't get very far! I love Halpern, one of my favorites for sure.

I realy got the hang of his style, and i can almost play anything of periphery's records, practicing his style has really touched up on my groove and polyrythms. I suggest you try to learn how he plays!

He is very creative with the basic 4/4. Awesome drumming, but I have yet to acquire a taste for Periphery as a band. Ill take more DTP and Gojira for my Meshuggah copies.

Who knows, a year from now I might learn to love Periphery as well.

Honestly my major complaint against Periphery is the vocals, same reason I dont care for Tesseract (either vox) or Deftones. Just cant get into the vocals, so unless they change singers Im not sure different albums will make much difference. Still, Ill give it a listen.

I just got to meet matt Tuesday on the common thread tour. Along with jp bouvet and Mike Johnston. All great drummers. hearing matt just jam out was amazing. He's a heck of a nice guy too. He signed a poster and some drumsticks for me. Got to talk to him about his drum choice and the new CD they are working on.

He did mention he liked using a floor tom sometimes in place of the bass drum. Instead of double bass all the time.
