Wow, I'm amazed by two things here. The first, it's been 33 years today since JOHN HENRY BONHAM DIED ON SEPT. 25th 1980 @ AGE 32! RIP
Second, I can't believe that this hasn't been posted yet on DC!

They didn't post Buddy Rich or Gene Krupa. Bonham wasn't more special than them.

My bad, I didn't know that all 3 died on the same day. I'll have to remember that for next year.

That was posted last year which was 32 years since he had passed away.

They didn't all die on the same day. I meant that Bonham is no more special than Rich or Krupa.

I think it's safe to say that John influenced a lot of people and left a mark on the drumming world. If you feel there are other drummers who have done the same feel free to commemorate their passing by starting a thread. I don't think we should turn a thread commemorating someone's tragic death into an argument about who was better.

For the record, I think the three drummers named were all very influential is their own right and all deserve respect for what the did to help move the art of drumming forward.

Yes, it was I who posted that thread on John's death last year. This thread is about John ' Bonzo' Bonham not Rich or Kupra. RIP John you are missed .

While that might be a valid opinion of yours Rick, I don't know that it was necessary to put that in a thread that's memorializing Bonzo. It creates ill feelings with some of the other members. It also has the potential of turning an otherwise innocent thread into a heated debate and causes divisiveness. We don't need anymore of that in here.

Let's get this back on track.

I'd like to add my 2 cents worth but it's not worth a penny now. Never mind.

    He's a legend. Period.

I think it's awesome that his son followed in his footsteps too.

One of my favorite drummers. I follow Jason on FB and he misses his Dad greatly and I miss his Dad too.
