I've played with an AKG D112 kick drum mic for YEARS, and it's a great microphone. I've also played with an Audix D6 (I actually like it a little better than the D112) and a few others. Our soundguy is wanting to try a Shure Beta 91. If you don't know what kind it is, here's what it looks like:
I simply do not see how it can capture the same low end that a traditional kick drum mic can. What has been your experience with these? How do these compare with the AKG D112, Audix D6, or even the Shure Beta 52?
Thanks.

I use it and mix with with my D6 or B52. Adds a nice punch
Buddy of mine recently began using one. He loves it. I haven't heard it yet....but he's real happy and like the above poster...says he uses it with another microphone.
Certainly is a decent price.

I just used one at a gig two weeks ago. Our bass player/soundman really liked it. Not only it sounded good, but you don't need to mess around with a mic stand. You just have to have a clip or something else to try and keep the cable from resting on your reso head. I clipped the cable to the bass hoop which kept it off the reso head port hole.

great mic
Just balance it on the mic in the port "the d6" with the mic cable clip on the d6 stand
