    Default Kick drum mic'ing

    Hello all,
Would like to get some feedback on the Audix D6 mic, and the Kelly Shu internal drum mount. I'm currently using an AKG D112, kick drum has an Aquarian SK2 batter head, Evan E3 reso head with a kickport. I'm not terribly pleased with the kick sound in the bands PA, and have resorted to triggering the kick, and mixing the two. I want to ditch the trigger altogether. Any and all advise or questions are welcome.
    Thanks...

Is the FOH bass sound bad, or behind the kit?

The Audix D6 is a fantastic kick Mic with heaps of punch and low end. It's my personal favourite for micing kicks.

Love the D6. Use it with a kickport, as well. I have also used a "combo" (only when the mixer and venue situation allows - not often, but enjoyable) with D6 external and a Sennheiser e901 internal (on a Kelly Shu Flatz mount). Mixed right, great blend.

I've been using an internally mounted D6 for about 8 months and love it. The most common comment has been "thunderous".
