I went to a Carmine Appice clinic a few months ago and was kinda disappointed. He's a decent drummer but he spent like half the time telling us how Bonham ripped him off. Also he had us watch a lot of him play on the Ed Sullivan show from long ago. I was hoping to see more live playing than he did. It's true he's considered a legend but I expected a little more. I didn't have to pay so I guess it's all good. I Finally got his book though which I like quite a bit. Blessings.....

Greg Bissonette (sp?) at music live 06, the Birmingham NEC. I thought he was really good and funny, and seemed like a nice guy. And then I told my drum teacher and he said he's an idiot and rude.
Well I don't know where he got that but Ahwell , what are you gonna do?

Kenny Arnoff about a year ago. Great clinic. Played live to backing tapes of some people he's recorded and toured with: Smashing Pumpkins, Mellencamp etc. Very powerful drummer and a nice guy as well.

I've met him at least 3 times and he has always been "extremely" kind and gracious. In watching him around other people and through the years, he seems the same.

Yeah I know, he seemed nice enough, and did some mickey mouse impressions and donald duck too(he does them for a tv show).
So I was surprised when my drum teacher said that- maybe he's just jealous.
I wouldn't say that to him though, I'd end up with a drumstick where the sun don't shine.

I've never attended a drum clinic. I plan on attending Danny Seraphine's (formerly Chicago) clinic next weekend. Should be fun.

The only clinic I've been to was with Marko Djordjevic. It was pretty cool. It opened with a guy from Evan's who gave some tuning tips.

Virgil Donati, although he spent a lot of the time just trying to work out what he'd written on a handout that he gave everyone. His hand speed was amazing (his foot control was amazing but his foot speed really wasn't). His independence was something else. But what really got me was that he couldn't (or just didn't) groove. He played a few simple beats and saying you should never lose the groove, but he sounded too much like a machine. :/

The one before that was a Benny Greb clinic, and that was mind blowing.

I made an effort to see Dave Weckl's clinic a few weeks ago at the London drum show but didn't see it ; I got side-tracked by an old friend who was doing another clinic at the same time there and missed Dave completely.

Virgil donati in 2004. The only clinic I have ever attended. It was pretty gnarly. He played like a 40 minute solo. Then politely called out everyone who couldn't read. Didn't meet him. Seemed like a nice guy just from stage presence.

The last drum clinic I went to was Thomas Pridgen in Sacramento a few months ago. He spoke about his start as a gospel drummer and thanked God many times durning his clinic for the blessing that was bestowed upon him then he went into this insane drum solo to kick off the clinic. Man... he beat the devil out of the DW Collector series kit that was provided for him. It was well worth it!

The last clinic was Mission from Gadd. Great clinic and I've always wanted to meet Steve Gadd and talk, which I was able to do. What a great individual. Very humble. Great clinic also. Took all three sons with me too! So I have another snare head with a legend's signature.

Haven't been to a clinic in years, but the last one I went to was Akira Jimbo probably in the late 90s. His Engrish was not the best, and it was pretty difficult to understand him and seemed difficult for him to try to explain what he was doing. His playing on the other hand was incredible, showed some really cool 4-way independence and did some killer stuff with triggers. He has been a favorite of mine ever since.

I have never been to a drum clinic :(

...but, I am moving to Pennsylvania this June/July, so I am hoping I will be able to go to drum clinics, as well as concerts, because I will be in an area closer to some big cities.
