Try muck with the tuning before going out and splurging on more heads. Sometimes the resonant head can contribute to extra ring, maybe loosen them off a touch? If you absolutely cannot get the sound you want, go get coated heads then I suppose.

^This. EC2s shouldn't be too ringy.
Mmm... Saturns.
The ring can be a good thing if you play unmic'd in a band. Just spend $6 on a pack of Moongel. If they have some nasty overtones, then tuning should be able to get rid most of it...especially with EC2's.

"Too many crappy used drum stuff to list"
Play the SONG......not the DRUMS!!!
"I think that feeling is a lot more important than technique. It's all very well doing a triple paradiddle - but who's going to know you've done it? If you play technically you sound like everybody else. It's being original that counts." ~ John Bonham
Mess with the tuning on the resonant heads.
We often overlook the impact that the reso heads have on the drums. EC2's have a dampening ring on them so they are designed to not ring to much.

Thank you all. I will try the tuning first.
I use EC2 on maple. Used moongel then, like drumstix says, messed with tuning the reso heads unti lit sounded good without the gels.
I tune the reso's a little tighter that the batters by the way.
I also use Clear EC2's on my toms and like mentioned my reso is probably 1/2 turn more than the batter.
