Default Wooden Hoops- Gretsch Catalina Rock

Hi, have just purchased a used Gretsch Rock kit with 26" bass have put Remo pinstripes on the batter sides & Ambassador on the snare. Also thinking of putting wooden hoops on the kit as i love the look.
Is this a good or bad idea regarding the sound ?
    thanks

I have a Catalina set and I put Gibraltar wood hoops on the snare - very pleased! It warmed it up a little and really makes for a great cross-stick sound. I'm still staying with the flanged hoops that came on the toms, though.

spartax, I just bought a 7 pcs. catalina set. Not to impressed with the snare either My Ludwig centennial sounds better. I think I'll try that. love the rest of the set. Didn't think I would use the 8" tom but I find myself always playing it in fills all the time
