I wear socks. I need to feel the pedal.
Since another member posted about steel toe boots, I was wondering what you usually wear on your feet when you play.... Barefoot, socks, athletic shoes, street shoes, other shoes, something else?

I wear socks. I need to feel the pedal.
Used to go barefoot or socks, have swapped over to vans since I started playing out again more. Don't want to have to bother putting my shoe back on every time I get done with a set.
The only two constants I have are DW and Zildjian.

Used to be barefoot. Now whatever shoes I'm wearing. Doesn't make much difference.
Some kind of flat-sole shoes like Vans. Right now I'm wearing Nike Janowskis when I play. It's as close to "feeling" the pedal as I can get without taking my shoes off. The reason I don't play barefoot is because I feel like I can feel the pedals too much, actually.

I think this topic has been covered again and again and again.

That's just his way. He can say whatever he wants cause he ends all of his posts with, "all the best"... The subject HAS been visited multiple times in the past on this site, but who really cares if it's repeated again? I like to play barefooted or just socks. I feel as if I need to "feel" the pedal.

Yeah, Chuck Taylor's are the way to go. Still enough mobility and feel to slide up the pedal, but it protects your feet so that the pedal doesn't rip your toes open.

Sorry for repeating an old topic...guess I was too lazy to search. In any event, thanks for the info, guys.
I find the best way for me to play is with a shoe with a very flexible but rubber (for grip) sole. Using Skechers now.

Back in the day, I used to wear wrestling shoes. Their thin soles gave lots of feel.
I like to wear Vans, since its pretty much the only shoes i have.
I usually play barefoot because its more comfortable for me, but I can play with shoes on, I have a small problem with going barefoot when I speed on my pedals my toes sometimes get caught in the chains.
Best drum shoes ever.....................
