Wait, you're not trying to put a limit on the amount of sticks we can have, are you? 'Cause that would be bad.

I buy my sticks a dozen pair at a time. Since I stopped playing out in 1991 I haven't bought sticks in years.

Where do you buy quality bulk sticks from? Everything I can find is lesser quality VF Nova/no name sticks and better quality brand name bricks that come out to be the same as purchasing them individually for the retail price.

Isn't the idea of buying in bulk getting a discount?

For not playing very often, and never gigging, the answer is "too many". I have eight pairs, but only use 2, both Vater 5A.

2 pairs are from when I was figuring out what sticks I liked. (and didn't) One pair are kiddie sized so my kids won't use mine. And the other three aren't to be used...well, only one is actually a "pair", they were my first sticks and I took one of them to the Saving Abel concert and had the drummer sign them. (My favorite band). He also signed one of his sticks for me. The other sticks are also signed by drummers from bands I've seen lately.

I have 5 pair of my brand, and about 6 pair assorted, that I never use. I use grip tape, so I wrap my Zildjians in different color tape for each pair, so I don't keep using the same one over and over. But I don't gig, just play at home, so those 5 pair will probably last a couple of years.

I usually stock up on sticks when it's time to change heads. I buy a brick at a time and shove 6 pairs into my stick bag for gigs and practice.

Chipped or worn out sticks end up in a plastic bucket to be recycled.

WOW! That's a lot of sticks!

I don't keep a ton of sticks on hand. I have several pair...maybe 4 or 5. I buy as needed. Those are a mix of Pro Mark Rock Knockers (which I don't use any more), 747 (also don't use), 727 (which I do use) and a pair of Mike Portnoys (similar to 727 but w/ nylon tip).

I keep a couple old beaters in my bag for cowbell use.

Here's a terrible photo of my stick bag. 4 pairs of oak 727s. 1 pair of Rock Knockers and a few worn out sticks on the left for the singer when he gets the cowbell out.
