Along with everything else in my stick bag...brushes, mallets, rods, etc. I try to keep the stick bag full of sticks. But I usually buy them in bulk and replenish a couple times a year.
So...lots? I guess.

Too many
Wow, who counts 'em? If I had to guess, maybe around 2 or 3 dozen? Really not sure. But now you've got me curious. I'm going to go home and count them. Ha-ha!
I probably have about 2 dozen of various sizes.

I generally keep a dozen or so of each type I use. Always been a Vic guy, but recently fell in love with the Vater Fusion for most of my rock stuff. Still love the Vic Weckl, the SD1 and the Bolero. Got piles of marching and pipeband sticks too.
I usually only have about 5 Pr. 2 different sizes. 1 or 2 Pr. of 7A or similar, and some 5A's.
Yep you guessed....too many! Mind you, I have not only drumsticks, brushes, rods and mallets in one stick bag.....if we're looking at all the specialty beaters and mallets that I need for tuned and other specialty percussion....that's a whole other crowded stick bag altogether, seriously! But as far as drumsticks go, one brick of a dozen pairs will get me through quite a number of months, so the stick bag is usually crowded with loads of Regal Tip 8A Jeff Porcaro's . Brushes and mallets last years though.

Considering the price of sticks here, not too many. Right now I have two pairs in different sizes and another two or three 5-year old lone sticks lying around somewhere.

I buy a brick and have assorted other sticks, i like smaller sticks when the gig calls for lower volume levels, brushes, hot rods, etc..
6-12 pair at any given time. Rarely, if ever, more. Primarily because I buy 6 sets at a time to save trips to the store.

From around '73 to '05, I averaged 4 gigs a week. In the '70's and '80's, 5 gigs a week (Wed thru Sun were common), and they all were 4 45-50 minute sets, and sometimes 5 sets, provided they wanted to pay for it. That's not counting other events we played.
