    Hi folks!

I saw a snare drum at a local music store yesterday, and I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with it. It looks to be a monster.

It's a DW Performance Series 14x8 chrome over steel. The price tag is $333 plus tax. I can probably get them to take $30 off the price.

    Thanks for your responses!

Steel is not the greatest shell material. Loud and harsh is what I would expect.

I have played one at a music store and liked it but for 199 you can get the Ludwig Supralite 8 x 14 that IMO sounds just as good.

I disagree.....I love a nice steel snare!! Tuned properly -bright, clean and crisp is what you'll get.

+1 steel is great with the right head combo and a bit of patience, sure its not as soft as alloy but it has a particular cutting open sound

i say go for it ..if you really like that snare ...good start to a snare collection

I've always wanted to hear in person one of these Shawn Drover snares.

You can find them all day for under $180. 7x14 ddrum, diecast hoops, black hardware, 10lug, kinda has a aluminum look with some artwork around the shell, what else can you ask for?

    Anyone here have one?

I own one and I love it .

it is aluminium , the artwork is laser etched , 10 lugs , die cast hoops .

sounds warm and punchy but I don't have it cranked very thight . it is very loud when you want it to be .

reviews says dry with tons of crack when tuned tighter .

haven't tried it tighter as I have a tama metalworks next to it when I need dry ... next to the tama the shawn drover DDrum is really warm and full .

    hope that helps
