I hate how rap and hip hop is being forced on us. Hopefully it will go the way of 80's hair bands and eventually implode on itself.

The Grammy's are great - we're still watching them as they were delayed an hour in Mountain Time. So far most has been well done. Not much rap at all and everyone's music deserves as much air time as everyone else's.

Edited: Paul and Ringo just finished together. That alone makes it a great Grammy awards.

I don't feel like any genre of music is being forced on me. I listen to whatever I want. Some of it being hip hop, which has been around for 35 years so I definitely think it's here to stay.

He didn't/doesn't. Ringo sat in on Abe Laboriel's gig. And it was good to see Paul and Ringo on stage together again.

Maybe I'm off base but it seemed to unnecessarily take away from the focus of the event.

I enjoyed seeing Lords. They are different and the song "Royals" is played on the radio a lot in my area. Daft Punk was interesting too. I liked seeing Pink and Nate Ruess perform "Just Give Me A Reason". Mearl Haggard, Willie Nelson, Kris Kristoferson, and Blake Shelton put on a nice country show too. I liked Taylor Swift’s performance singing and playing piano.

It's "Lorde" and it's just one person who writes most of her own music. Just saying. And if you think it gets played a lot in your area... it gets played to hell and back here in NZ.

That's not going to happen. It will change and evolve, or devolve in the case of southern rap, but it's not going to go away.

I only saw a little of it. I liked the Daft Punk with Stevie Wonder. Nathan East is a killer bassist, I enjoyed seeing him play that song.

And the piano ruined that Metallica song.

We asked Scottish comedian, Billy Connolly, what he thought of the Awards Night.

"Billy, it's a pleasant surprise to see you here this evening!"
"Why, thank ye. 'Tis a pleasant ev'ning so far, aye..."
"Now Billy, what's your view on Kanye West's nominations for a Grammy this year?"
    "Hooo?"
"Kanye. You know? The guy married to Kim Kardashian?"
"Kanye? Ohhh....'immmm....yeah, I always wanted teh ask him a question."
    "What's that, Billy?"
"Kan-ye write some decent music fer a change, yerrr git?" (laughter follows)

Yeah, i dont get it either. I have a lot more respect when they show some class... What does being almost naked and dancing provocatively add to the music? Nothing. I guess its just whats "popular" (makes money) these days...

I'm an old fart and I like the 80's hair bands. Took a few years though.

    a) "80s hair bands" are still popular.
    b) Hip Hop is a poor shadow of how it used to be up to 2000

I was always a fan of Sugarhill gang, Run DMC, Public enemy, Ice T, NWA, etc.
then we had Digital Underground in the 1990's then Dre/2Pac in 2000's.
