This is more of a picture thing than a review, because well, they "sound good to me" with every batter I've had.
Evans Resonant Glass bottom heads on my toms...
I've had them with these batters:
Evans G2 Coated
Remo Clear UX that came with the drums
Remo Ebony Ambassadors
Remo Clear Ambassadors
Remo Coated Powerstroke 3
No problem getting the right sound out of the drum. High or low, no problem. They resonate very well with each batter I've used - the G2's sound thunderously awesome, the Powerstroke 3's sound very nice, concise and "round" and the Ambassadors sound like Ambassadors should.
As always, I'm no expert, this is just my take on it. :-)
In case you wondered what they look like, they are optically clear, like good glass windows. Those are Ebony's on top.
btw, my crappy drumming over there in the Powerstroke 3 review... on all those sound clips... those have the Resonant Glass heads. Not that I'm a good tuner but I get better all the time, lol.
Oh NO! There's a hair in my drum in the 2nd picture! Oh well, I got some Ebony's for the resonant side I'm gonna try anyway. I'm going the "same thing on top and bottom" route now.

Just because it's old doesn't mean it's not just as good now as it was then.
