Default Pork pie Brass Patina vs. 13x6 Ludwig Supralite

I recently purchased a Pork pie patina but I still have time to return. Only reason I would is because I played a ludwig Supralite today 13x6 and was blown away by its sound(and it's price!) I could get the Supralite for half of what a Patina costs. I love the 14x6.5 Supraphonic sound, and one of my favorite drummers is patrick keeler of the greenhornes and the raconteurs. Listen to Consoler of the lonely by the raconteurs for man incredible sounding snare in the beginning. I play mostly garage rock, raconteurs dead weather type stuff, so what's my best bet? Thanks

I would ensure that you can get all the tunings you would use on each drum before making any final decision.

    Just my $0.02

Can you do a side by side comparison? I've had a Patina for a couple of years and I love that little rascal. Remember, the Supralite is steel while the Patina is brass. For garage rock steel might be the better choice but the Patina is probably more versatile and I think that it's American made. That still matters to me. Anyway try them side by side and may the best snare win!

I don't know about the Pork Pie, but I tried the 13x6 Supralite and the GAS has kicked in hard. Exactly my kind of sound.
I don't really need another snare, but this one's in my future.

If you save money and get a snare that you like more...no brainer. Add to the fact that it's a Luddy, and it gets even easier to choose. Don't get me wrong, I had a Pork Pie and miss it quite a bit. But, a steel Ludwig snare, as others have said, is something special.
I love the look of that PP Patina snare more, but that's no reason to keep it, IMHO.
I don't think you loose in the end either way at all. Pictures, please?
    Proudly playing:
    Doc Sweeney Drums
    A bunch of snares
    A bunch of cymbals

    Off-Set double pedals

I think I love to play the drums simply because you get to hit 'em!!!

side by side the new Supraphonic sounds different to the older models

so take that into consideration ...that old sound is the one everybody is talking about

The Supralite is different than the Supraphonic though. Steel vs. Aluminum.
And the Pork Pie is brass. All different.
