Default another floor tom thread.. sorry

my floor tom does not sound as good as my hi and mid tom, its got a ratleing kinda damped gross sound. I have EC2 as my stock, but my reso is still the original stock.. is this why? I think iv tuned it pretty well too. oh and the reso and battter have no wrinkles

Do you have any O-Ring's or dampening things stuck on it?

Usually, with the floor tom, becuase of it's extra size and (primaraly) depth, there tends to be allot more resonance compared to the rack toms. This makes it tricky to get that sound your looking for, even if it is tuned right, because there is just so much extra resonance. I'd advise you get some o-rings or moongels or even just some tape and cottonballs/tissues if your really desperate and try muffling that thing. You should see mine - I have cottonballs (becuase I am SUPER cheap and my kit sucks anyway) on both the batter AND resonant heads (16" tom, about as boomy as they get with my heads).

Hey, Lafirin. I recently got some O rings, they work wonders! Takes away a lot of the resonance! Gotta love them!

i say forget about the o rings. you have ec2s, they are 2 ply self muffling heads. keep messing with the tuning. you'll get it right. try tightening the reso a little bit more.
