zildjian sizzle

hi guys
i am looking for a sizzle crash/ride on the thin side 18 inch
i could trade some stuff
i have one on the market but the guy won't respond

You will enjoy that cymbal. Mine is 22" Zildjian from the 60's and sounds great. It has to be my favorite.;

Or hang a chain on it. Works great on any cymbal. Any neck chain will work and close at hand.

I have an 18" Sizzler without the rivets that I use as my main crash I love it! But I could be persuaded...

Or, if you have a crash that you like, just drill it for rivets. It's very easy to do and rivets made from various metals are readily available. I've done it a number of times because I love rivets. Especially on larger cymbals. Easy, easy, easy.

I must have missed this post the 1st time round. What is the old penny trick? I'm familiar with sizzle chains but not this one.

A penny taped to a pc of string tied to the wing nut laying on the cymbal.

You take a piece of electrical tape or half a piece of duct tape. Put about 3 to 5 pennies (or dimes) on the tape lining them up one after the other. Leave about and inch or so at the top of the strip and tape it on the bell of your ride cymbal. It has a wonderful zizzle effect and it doesn't take anytime at all to put together. I keep 5 pennies in my tool box at all times in case I want to add it to my cymbal.

Thanks for the reply - I'm itching to try this out, I've put a roll of tape and some small change on my throne. As it's Sunday today I leave my drums to give my neighbours a rest day

I've seen these Kay-gee, unfortunately they are £20 (about $35) and my cheapskate nature is outraged at the price. £20 for a foot of chain - who do they think I am - Mr T?

I'll keep my eyes peeled for a short length of thin chain, a set of kids beads or similar.

Those chains that keep you from stealing pens from the bank.

Sometimes the toilet tanks have them as well.

you know me i found that baby a 50's zildjian original with 8 rivets

Just take a length of this and attach it to your cymbal. I think they sell it at most hardware stores.
