i like the bass drum head looks cool...
Sabian!!!
If I give away a little secret you have to promise not to tell.
It's actually the reso head from my ddrum kit I had a few years ago. It was the only other 20" bass drum head I had at the time I was investigating kick ports. Plus, I had forgotten to send it with the ddrum kit when I traded it for my DW Collectors.
I cut the hole over the word ddrum and then turned it on its side to make it easier for micing purposes. I used it to test out the Kick Port instead of destroying the Gretsch factory reso head.
Thanks for not saying anything to anyone about what I did.

Fantastic...ness.
Tell GC to take a jump.
Gretsch USA & Zildjian(What Else Would I Ever Need ?)
Love that color.
I am not too surprised... maybe even a little surprised they offered you that much, given they don't pay much for used gear in my experience. This is the older model. My local GC had a beautiful brand new older model Renown, same finish as Ritter's, on the shelf... 22, 8, 10, 12, 16... I think it even had a 14 snare... marked down to $800. It sat there for a long time before being sold. If I hadn't already had a set of Renowns, I would have probably jumped on it... I almost did anyway
Gretsch Renown RN1 ~ Silver Oyster Pearl
I'm not surprised GC only offered $500. I'm sure they would of marked it up to $999.99 As with most retailers, they'll offer only 1/2 of what's it's worth on the used drum kit market. It's almost as bad as trading in your car for a new one.
I don't see how. I only paid $1900 new and it was a price match. Saved $100.
I would have thought they might ask 14 or 15. Either way, mine being like new should be worth $1100 to someone without having to go through a retailer.
BTW, I've decided to keep the Renowns. I actually haven't done anything yet as far as trading in or selling any kits. Been too busy and just got back from being out of town for 3 days for some work related training.
Looks like I have couple pages of posts to catch up on.

Wiki-
The Starclassic series is Tama's high-end line of drums. Originally hand-crafted in Japan, some of the Starclassic lines are now made in TAMA's Chinese factory (a notable difference is that Japan-made Starclassics has their badges painted on the drum's shell, while Chinese-made Starclassics feature badges fitted onto the shell with screws).

Edit: The used kit listed for $2000 is made in China

Mine are the fitted badges. I always wondered why the difference. I thought it was just the year of manufacture.
Either way they sound and look just as good as anything else I've owned or played.
