PMM, that a beautiful house, and a darn fine roof!
I will say that I was surprised by the bars. I has assumed that with all the snow in your part of the world, that getting the snow off the roof was important.

Thanks PB for the compliment. The snow guards are more of a safety issue as you don't want all the snow from the second story coming down crashing unto the lower part and landing on the walk way. The bars will hold the snow and has she melts it will just slowly seep down from the roof into the eavetrough and away from the house.
Gorgeous house. A lot of character.
Looks very nice. I am not familiar with snow bars.
Nice roof, nice log home. How old is it?

Great looking house. I would have never have guessed they were for snow control.
If we have snow here in England (normally for a few days tops) the country may as well go into hibernation as hardly anyone knows a thing about the stuff. Carnage on the roads, no one able to get to work etc, - if possible, my attitude is just to stay in, normally that weird, spooky looking cold stuff has gone away in a few hours.
We ought to put signs up. Something like 'No snow allowed. By order of H.M Government'. That should deter the pesky stuff.
nice roof defiantly the better style of roof
Sabian!!!
Thanks all for the compliments and yes this was the right choice of color and roofing for this type of home. Once the flowers etc are out I will then post pic of before and after and really show you the charm of this home in the Summer. Thanks again.
The picture needs an old truck sitting in front instead of a new car.

Sometimes DC is not just about drums LOL There are other things in life that we like to share with one another in the off topic threads. I guess you don't get snow down under DD.

Very nice homestead PearlMan. The roof should last you a couple of years.
Are the snow guards required by CSA?

No they are an option. More of a safety issues to the home owner and visitors. With a steel roof snow tends to slide off compared to asphalt singles which holds the snow and that is one reason why people have to shovel their roofs, The roof is guaranteed for 40+ years from fading, cracking or peeling. Also mold resistant and gives more R value to the insulation because of the 1 inch gap between the strapping and the roof. Cooler in the Summer and warmer in the Winter. Can't go wrong with steel roof other than the cost which is more than shingles.
Beautiful long lasting roof Gilles! Congrats!
you have a lovely home.
