Catalina Jazz Kit

I just returned from Austin where I saw my daughter perform in the musical CHICAGO at MAGGIE MAE'S down on 6th street...............what a cool place and a cool play.
The band played the live music without flaw and were really good & tight.
The floor space the band had was also really tight and 8 people were set up in an area big enough for 4.............the drummer was playing a Gretsch Catalina Jazz/Bop kit with the 18 bass, 12 rack and the 14 floor.............it was the perfect little kit for a show like this.
The music and the acting were top notch...............fun stuff.

Sounds like a great time Ricardo, if only because you got to see your daughter perform.

As to the Cat Jazz kit, when I started playing, I got a 6 piece kit and really was all about going big. Since then, I got a used Catalina Elite jazz kit (the forerunner to the newer jazz kits), and I am very impressed with the kit. I have used the jazz sized kit on a couple of gigs, and got very favorable comments on the sound of it.

I played my Jazz Catalina kit on a Blues Band gig this past Thursday night because of stage space limitation, and they never cease to amaze me how good they sound and that 18" kick drum cuts through great. I did have a mic on it but on nothing else.
