Don't rush it. Give it time to heal.
I know how you feel. I want to play so bad I can taste it.

I have had tendinitis off and on for years in my right elbow - it is just "one of those things".
What I do is rest when it hurts, take ibuprofen, and use ice/heat alternatively. If you really need to play ask your doctor for a cortisone shot, but it will get better.... ...and then it will hurt again :-)
Yeah I hope it goes away soon. That happened to me once also.
Look up "tennis elbow", strap and massage. Sometimes your own fingers can do it! Works for me, anyway (my fingers, I mean). My lead guitarist developed "tennis elbow" from doing his autobody spray painting job and used the strap to cure his problem.
While we're on the drummer's pain subject, I'm currently battling it out with sciatica in my left leg/ankle/foot and wish there was a strap for that! A chiroprator's all I can use.

I never minded the years adding up, it's all the crap that goes with them that gets to me.

Hey Sling have you ever messed with a TENS unit? I had some luck with it when I had a compressed disk causing pressure on my sciatic nerve.

I know a woman that swears by her TENS device. She said she needs it ever since her seventh husband kicked her.
Bummer on the tendonitis piratemonkey124. Once the tendonitis calms down, make sure you assess your technique as you het back in the saddle - just in case the drumming is the culprit. Most likely, it was something you recently did, along with your drumming that got it going.

I had a TENS unit that just passed away after about 10 years.
They work well for certain things. Same with a Inversion Table.
I've been think about using smaller sticks, see if that helps.
